The Valley Park School District is seeking an Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach for the 2024-2025 school year. We encourage passionate, energetic, student-centered coaches to apply. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of the game of basketball, and a strong commitment to help student-athletes grow holistically, providing them with endless opportunities to make a positive impact on the world.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist the head coach with instructing and training participants in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport;
- Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach;
- Assess strengths and weaknesses in participants’ performance as well as provide encouragement and constructive feedback while keeping the head coach informed of participants’ performance;
- Assist the head coach with determining game strategy;
- Assist the head coach in providing supervision of all participants until they have left the building and/or site;
- Follow established procedures in the event of an student-athlete’s injury;
- Maintain high standards of student-athlete behavior;
- Act as a positive role model to students on and off the court/field/site;
- Encourage student-athletes to maintain a high academic standard;
- Maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and coaches;
- Follow MSHSAA and District regulations; and
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Position: Part-time temporary, season-specific
Education: Minimum 60 credit hours.
Certification: Missouri State Teaching Certificate or Missouri Substitute Certificate or NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course
Experience: Prior coaching or playing experience in the sport preferred. Working with school-aged children and background in education are strongly desired.
Compensation: Stipend position
