The Valley Park School District invites passionate, energetic, student-centered coaches to apply for the position of Assistant  Baseball Coach for the spring 2026 season. The ideal candidate possesses both a high level of knowledge of baseball and a passion for helping student-athletes grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically today, in preparation for tomorrow.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:  

• Assist the head coach with instructing and training participants in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport;
• Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach;
• Assess strengths and weaknesses in participants’ performance as well as provide encouragement and constructive feedback while keeping the head coach informed of participants’ performance;
• Assist the head coach with determining game strategy.
• Assist the head coach in providing supervision of all participants until they have left the building and/or site;
• Follow established procedures in the event of a student-athlete’s injury;
• Maintain high standards of student-athlete behavior;
• Act as a positive role model to students on and off the court/field/site;
• Encourage student-athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
• Maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and coaches;
• Follow MSHSAA and District regulations; and
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Position:  Part-time temporary, season-specific

Education:  Minimum 60 credit hours.

Certification: Missouri State Teaching Certificate or Missouri Substitute Certificate or NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course

Experience:  Prior coaching or playing experience in the sport preferred. Working with school-aged children and background in education are strongly desired.
